अर्थो नास्ति गृहं नास्ति तस्मात् जागृत जागृत ॥ १ ॥
ಪರಲೋಕ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ (ಅಂತ್ಯಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ) ತಾಯಿಯ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ತಂದೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ಬಂಧುಗಳಾಗಲಿ, ಸಹೋದರರಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಮನೆ ಮಠವೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಹಣವೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಕಾರಿಯಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ಎಚ್ಚರದಿಂದಿರು!!
At the time of departure from this world, father, mother, brothers or even relatives will not be of any help. House or even money will be of no avail. Hence wake up and beware.
संसारसागरं दुःखं तस्मात् जागृत जागृत ॥ २ ॥
ಹುಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆಯು ದುಃಖಮಯವಾದದ್ದು. ಮುಪ್ಪಿನಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿಶಯವಾದ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ದುಃಖವು ತಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಲ್ಲ. ಸಂಸಾರವು ದುಃಖಮಯ ಸಾಗರವೇ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು! ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು!!
Birth is painful. In old-age there is only suffering. Even a wife is a source of grief. Samsara (transmigratory life) is nothing but an unfathomable ocean of sorrow. Hence wake up and be aware.
ज्ञानरत्नापहाराय तस्मात् जागृत जागृत ॥ ३ ॥
ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂಬ ರತ್ನವನ್ನು ಅಪಹರಿಸಲು ಕಾಮ, ಕ್ರೋಧ, ಲೋಭಗಳೆಂಬ ಕಳ್ಳರು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಆವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕಳ್ಳರಿಂದ ಸದಾ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು! ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು!!
Three robbers -- wrath, lust and greed are dwelling in you to rob you of the Jewel of Wisdom. Hence wake up and beware.
आयुः क्षीणं न जानंति तस्मात् जागृत जागृत ॥ ४ ॥
ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕರ್ಮದ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಚಿಂತೆಗೆ ಈಡಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದಿನದಿನಕ್ಕೂ ಆಯುಸ್ಸು ಕ್ಷಯಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅರಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು! ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು!!
Desire overpowers every one. Action leads him to distress. Life is fleeting. Hence wake up and beware.
विद्युच्चञ्चलमायुष्यं तस्मात् जागृत जागृत ॥ ५ ॥
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವು ಸ್ವಪ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡ ಹಣದ ಗಂಟಿನಂತೆ, ಯೌವನವು ಅರಳಿದ ಹೂವಿನ ಕುಸುಮದಂತೆ ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ನಶಿಸುವುವು. ಆಯುಷ್ಯವು ಮಿಂಚಿನಂತೆ ಹಾರಿಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು! ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರು!!
Wealth is like a bag of riches seen in a dream. Youth is short-lived like a flower in bloom. Life is evanescent like a flash of lightning. Hence wake up and beware.
